matte relief

there is, the pounding of

rain against my window frame.

it is masked by the gurgling

of boiling water, in my metal

flask – it’s gloss; blurs into

muddy matte – as age drives

my thirst for accumulating

possessions; further into

oversight. i watch on; in

relief – as they fade over

my shoulders.
