mild hope

mostly, i think of nature

in the way mud slides

across a village of infants;

their bellies full with the

plight of air and hunger.

then, there is the sun; like

a yolk in my palm – a slow

drip over wooden huts; and

almost before i blink – there

is hope; mild as a dove.
