coral / rift

there is light leaking past

soft cotton; yet my eyes

remain in the ease of

tender darkness; young

and naive; slipping in

and through sheets of

ignorance and impulse.

diving into shallow tide;

oblivious to the piercing forms

of hidden rocks; a blood-orange

coral rises, afloat between a

gentle rift. i almost,

mistake her bobbing

body – for a wave, to come join.
